Felt Flask Covers, 2017

Felt, as a material, acts similar to a thermos and preserves the temperature of anything it encases. Generally, felt is known for keeping the body warm, but actually when something is wrapped with felt, it keeps the temperature hot or cold.

Vital is a collection of felt covers designed to upcycle and revalue single-use glass bottles. The beverage industry causes substantial glass bottle consumption, and even though glass is recyclable, there is still energy and water consumption during the recycling process. From a sustainability point of view, the design approach of Vital aims to revitalize water bottles by dressing them up using felt flask covers. The nine models created in the Vital collection; Apron, Charm, Swaddle, Zippy, Baggy, Collar, Poncho, Sleeve, and Wrap, are all presented as personal flasks for everyone who are concerned about reducing their carbon footprint by changing their daily consumption habits. These felt covers are designed and handstitched as wearable, with attachable and detachable accessories, and with the softness of the felt making it easy to carry your drinking water or any other beverage while protecting it.
