“Have you ever inspected your body in detail? Can you see the dots and lines of your body? Look at yourself, your body, soul, and mind. Only observe what you see and feel without judging. Look! What do you see?” -Miné Ovacık
Miné experimented in printing parts of her body, her fingers and hands, using ink on paper in light of her questions above. Ink stains were created randomly on paper with the dots and lines of her body. She looked at them with a magnifying glass and saw stories, scenes, figures, and creatures... She emphasised them by drawing whatever she saw, just as if she was reading a Turkish coffee fortune.
The five selected body prints, named Tree of Life, The Witch, Peace Pipe, Rooster, and Ghost came to fruition with her artful experiment. All five were exhibited with a magnifying glass to give the audience a detailed view of their stories, figures, and creatures in the Dots and Lines exhibition.
The exhibition Dot and Line, Nokta ve Çizgi, curated by Lale Dilbaş was the 3rd Group Exhibition of Faculty Members and Graduate Students of the Art and Design Faculty at Yaşar University, held in TaşEV 365 Art Gallery in Nicosia (1 June - 30 September, 2018).
