Human-Powered Water Vehicles

Turgutreis, Bodrum, 2013

What could you design as a human-powered water-vehicle which is used - in/on/under/over the water- for both physical exercising and at the same time entertaining yourself during holidays by the coast?  This question initiated and made the Eco-Siklet 2013 design workshop.

The aim of the third Eco-Siklet design workshop, held in Turgutreis, was for interdisciplinary students to collaborate on creating concepts, by studying boat and sport equipment designs; focusing on sustainability in tourism and marine ecology. There were 24 students from different universities in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, and Eskisehir, and from various disciplines of industrial design, mechanical and marine engineering, and tourism who participated. Students presented the concepts and prototypes in a pool at the end of the workshop. After the workshop, the Eco-Siklet Mobile Exhibition based on this workshop was shown in various cities in 2014.

The Movie of Eco-Siklet 2013 that showed the process of a 4-day intensive workshop was shoot and shown at Yasar University. The workshop was also published in Radikal Tasarım Gazetesi.
