Dancing Red Slippers are designed as wearable objects, cut out from a sheet of felt. The slippers are created using various techniques to wrap the feet, and are secured with different binding accessories and techniques such as safety pins, ropes, buttons, and sewing. Safe, Wind Rose, Cocoon, Twine, Envelop, Wrap‑up are the six different slipper models, designed and decorated by Miné.
During the felt classes held in the Urla Public Education Centre, these designs were presented to the craftswomen, where they were asked to add artisan features derived from their own skillsets and reflecting their own stories into the designs. Both Miné’s original designs and the decorated ones alongside women’s individual stories were exhibited as part of the PortIzmir 3 Triennale, as a co-created collection.
