Design Studio Chit-Chat

Good Design 3, Izmir, 2018

Design Studio courses are fundemantal in industrial design undergraduate studies. What kind of problems are we facing in these courses? And why haven’t we been talking about our problems as students and instructors in the design studios? These questions led to structuring this workshop. 

The aim was to explore dialogues, attitudes, habits, contexts, etc. in/of design studio courses that were experienced while bringing academics and students together with this workshop -- Stüdyo Geyikleri. The vision and the organization of the workshop was created to be a relaxed and friendly environment. The idea was that the gathering be similar to everyone chatting in a social setting. The workshop was held in Izmir Culture Park, where 12 students and six academics created a non-hierarchical environment to put forth and discuss every visible problem from their perspective. As an outcome, all findings were visualized on an interactive board, exhibited in Good Design 3.
