Traditional Iznik Tiles, 2005

Diving Head First is designed for the special Iznik tile collection launched in the market by the Iznik Tiles Foundation with the For Tiles, Çini İçin, exhibition in Hagia Sophia, curated by architect Nevzat Sayın.

To create a new collection for Iznik tiles, Nevzat Sayın invited artists and designers who had no experience designing Iznik Tiles, which was a challenging task in itself, to design a unit that represented a feeling of infinity with its repetition.

The traditional cobalt-blue, red, and turquoise colours of Iznik tiles are also present in Miné’s design, creating a unity between this design and the traditional ones.
